Nothing is a more powerful than technology. Many of my students are too afraid to talk about incidents of bullying. I want to teach my students that bullying is wrong. Our goal is to create a "bully-free zone" and teach my students how to express themselves and show them how others handle problems.
I have 20 hard-working and highly motivated first-grade students.
My students are highly motivated by technology and enjoy using higher order thinking skills. Unfortunately, some students have fallen victim to bullying at school. It is imperative that we end these incidents so that every child can feel safe. They can be leaders, but they need the resources to help them get there.
My Project
Bullying is an epidemic that has infiltrated schools across the country even at an Elementary level. The book "Bullying in Schools" and the other children's bullying books will serve as FANTASTIC tools to help educate my students about this widespread problem. I am also asking for Happy Feet to go with my Penguin unit because it is a movie about how it is alright to be different. My students will use the knowledge they gain from this book as well as movie and positive image games on the Nook Tablet to learn how to solve problems with out violence and how to use knowledge and not meanness. The DVDs in this project show characters solving problems with their head and not with words or fist! This project will help students identify signs of bullying and learn strategies for how to properly deal with a situation involving a bullying and how to solve problems in a positive way.
This project will assist in teaching my students character skills that will last a lifetime.
We need to start standing up to bullies and it all begins with knowledge. Please help my students reach the goal of a "bully free zone" at school!
