My students need basic school supplies to begin the school year. The requested supplies such as pencil sharpener, erasers, notebooks, glue sticks, and pencils are items my students are lacking.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The beginning of the school year is an exciting time for teachers and especially students. The majority of my students year after year, are under prepared not by choice but because of personal, financial burdens.
My students are unique and fun-loving students who love to come to school.
Despite their hardships in life, they strive to achieve both academically and socially. Our school is severely under-funded and as their teacher I try to purchase as many basic supplies as possible so that my students are fully prepared. While some students come with first day of school supplies, there are at least a handful of them whose parents mention that they just didn't have the money. Understandably, as the school year progresses, my students have no pencils, erasers, notebooks, etc. to engage in daily activities.
My Project
By providing us with these basic school supplies, our classroom can begin the school year with EVERY child being prepared and excited for a new school year. Having these supplies on hand, will help to improve organization of the classroom and of my students.
