My students inspire me to be a better teacher every day. They are brave, smart, compassionate, kind, and loving. Their eagerness to learn shines bright when they read a new word, solve a math problem, write a story, or complete a STEM challenge through discovery learning.
In a world of technology where we are preparing students for jobs that haven't even been created yet, my students deserve to be learning in a 21st century classroom equipped with the digital world at their fingertips.
My Project
Chromebooks in our classroom will make a huge difference in my students' learning. We live in the most beautiful rural area surrounded by beautiful grasslands and fields of wheat and corn. Beautiful homes are being built all around town, and our student enrollment has increased in the past two years more than we could have imagined. With the increase, we have not been able to keep up technology in our classrooms for the primary grades. In my classroom of 17 children, I have two iPads, which is great, but it isn't enough technology to suffice the needs for my children to be learning in a 21st century classroom.
Having four Chromebooks added to my classroom would allow my students to use a Chromebook 1-on-1 during my small group guided reading and math times.
My students would be able to utilize educational websites to improve their foundational skills in both reading and math. They would be able to explore, research and communicate with other students both nationally and globally. Parent involvement is very important to me. Having four Chromebooks in my classroom would allow my students to share their learning with their parents through the digital world.
As we are shifting to a world where moments are captured in real time, learning is gained in an instant, and communication is expressed at the tip of our fingers, our classrooms need to be equipped with technology to keep up with our forever changing future.
