Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our school, we consider ourselves lucky when it comes to the variety of activities we are able to offer our students. Among these activities are three concert bands that all meet during the school day. We are thrilled that we have expanded our band program to triple its size in only three years, but as our program grows, so does our need for new and improved supplies.
When we began, we were fortunate enough to buy some out-dated beginning band books at minimal cost. Then, with the help of DonorsChoose, we were able to purchase one additional set of books. While this was a wonderful addition to our resources, we are still one class set short! These books are essential to all of the students in the program because they hold basic instrumental knowledge, such as how to finger notes and play scales.
In order for our program to continue to grow, we need to ensure that every student has access to a resource like one of these books. The books allow the student not only to work on exercises in the class, but also gives them opportunities for individual enrichment at home. Please help support the arts in inner city schools by helping us provide the necessary resources to our students!
