I hate to brag but my students this year are awesome! I have a group of enthusiastic first-graders who are eager to learn and are having fun learning how to read, write, and problem solve. My first-graders come to school every day with a smile on their faces and a willingness to try new things. I am blessed to be their teacher as we embark on this journey for 180 days together!
My class is very diverse.
I have learners with all different abilities and skills sets. With a push toward the common core standards, my goal is for my students to be critical thinkers and to learn how to work together and build relationships.
My Project
Technology is fantastic and there's no way around it in our world today, but sometimes you just need to put an old-fashioned paper to pen to get your point across to the little ones.
Anchor charts are a necessity in teaching!
It's a great way to introduce topics and give students information that they can refer back to throughout the unit or maybe even the whole year. I want to incorporate using more anchor charts in my class so that I can really "hook" my students onto the subjects I am teaching.
I have a pocket chart stand that I bought my first year of teaching. Twelve years in and it is falling apart. I really wanted something that was more versatile and so I thought a stand with a magnetic whiteboard on one side and a pocket chart/chart paper stand on the other would be a nice upgrade to my stand that is currently on its last legs. I am also hoping to get some awesome self-sticking chart paper so that I can easily reposition my anchor charts when we are learning about a topic. And last but not least, what good is an anchor chart without fun colors?! The Mr. Sketch markers will be perfect to add a pop of color to our bright and colorful classroom.
