Help me give my students new basketballs and practice gear so they can have a successful season! Our current equipment is used for gym class and needs to be replaced!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students come from one of the most underserved parts of Chicago. Many of them have been deeply affected by violence in their communities. Despite the challenges they have already faced in their young lives, they come to school eager to learn, explore and grapple with challenging work each day.
Our school teaches five character traits with the ultimate goal of shaping life-long learners and citizens with a strong sense of personal and civic responsibility.
They are integrity, compassion, critical thinking, exploration, and active citizenship.
Our students deserve high-quality materials to help them achieve all of their goals!
My Project
The PCA basketball teams are looking to build on the success of our inaugural season last year! Our 7/8 Boys Basketball team will be defending their Conference Championship title and our Girls Basketball team will be furthering their winning season record. The teams have also been invited to participate in the "Jr. NBA All-Star Invitational Tournament" with the chance to play during the NBA All-Star weekend!
Right now, our equipment is shared with the school gym classes.
The basketballs are outdoor rubber material which is not the same leather balls they use in games. We also do not have enough balls to run the drills we would like to during practice. Our pinnies for running drills and scrimmages are also old and worn. Replacing these items will elevate our program to the next level!
