My Students

Think back to the first time you explored beyond your home, beyond your comfort zone. Many of my students have not experienced this yet, many coming from lower-income families that have other priorities with higher needs that can not afford the extra expense or luxury of travel. My students are inquisitive, creative young people who are craving adventure.

Students in my school are inquisitive, and inventive and explore their environment with the zeal only children have.

I am a 5/6 combined teacher in an elementary school in an impoverished urban area in Maine.

My Project

Please help fund our project to go to the New England Aquarium in Boston. Our biggest hurdle is transportation. Our local transportation system is privatized and should we choose to pay to use it, we would still have to be back in Maine by 3:00 in the afternoon, which would hinder our adventure. Many of my students come from low-income families and have not had the luxury of traveling for pleasure. Many of them have seen many places due to frequent movement, but have not been able to explore their environment and surroundings. My students are curious, enthusiastic learners that love to use their critical thinking skills to predict, experiment and communicate what they are absorbing.
