Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

With the start of a new visual arts program at P.S. 137, Studio 305 is the classroom that has been converted to the new art studio for over 450 young student-artists. Many students have had little to no prior practice in the art making experience. The student-artists enter the studio with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for this opportunity to explore and to discover with visual materials. Each week, twenty classes from grades pre-K through 6th grade utilize the studio, and there is the developing difficulty of safely storing and maintaining organization with all the artwork. Space is limited, and there is not enough room to pile artwork and to have surfaces on which students can work. With just 45 minutes per class, it is also critical that the artwork be quickly filed and retrieved. The purchase of flat files drawers would be extremely beneficial in helping the studio to continue to develop as an effective environment for artistic activities. An 8-drawer flat file package costs $805.95, including the shipping. It is my hope that your contribution to Studio 305 at P.S. 137 will benefit the current students as well as the arts program long into the future. Thank you for your consideration of this request.
