My students need Expo markers to help them continue to work out tough math problems. We need new copies of "The Watson's Go to Birmingham" to continue reading this novel yearly.
The students in my rural elementary school come from diverse backgrounds. Our school is located in a military town and the students we serve fluctuate frequently. The kids at our school have wonderful imaginations and require lots of creativity in their instruction. They learn best when they have a hand in creating and leading what they are exposed to within the classroom walls. They are tomorrow's leaders, teachers and workers. They are intelligent young people yearning to be guided and prepared for the bright futures they are destined to have.
My Project
My students will use these new Expo markers to assist in solving math problems. When given a choice in my classroom to solve equations, my students run right to the whiteboard bin. Week after week this resource seemingly disappears! My students are visual learners inspired to work hard with the aide of their trusty whiteboard and marker.
A fresh Expo marker is a coveted item within our walls.
My students can often be found in all corners of the room hard at work. They do not like being disrupted because markers no longer work and need to be discarded. When asked why they prefer to show their work on these boards rather than paper their response is simple, " I can erase my mistakes and keep on working without a blurred reminder."
In order to get the greatest yield from our newly requested supplies, we also decided to add an additional 2 holders that will store fading markers upside down to avoid waste. We thank you in advance for donating to our project. This one simple item will allow us to continue working hard on our education!
We also are requesting 30 copies of "The Watson's Go to Birmingham" to be able to continue reading this book yearly. Our last copies have been loved for 12 years and are beginning to look at tad bit too loved! As a teacher favorite and yearly pick, these just have to be replaced.
