This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students I teach persevere through the rough Baltimore City life and bring a willingness to learn with them to school everyday. This group of young people is not willing to be a statistic, they are working their hardest to do their best and prove everybody who ever said they couldn't, that they can. I have never been so proud as an educator to call a group of students, "My kids".
I watch them with admiration as they enter my classroom, shake off the negative vibes, and dive into Biology each day.
This is the reason I teach, to help mold these bright young minds, into thoughtful young citizens. I know my students will be grateful for every donation they receive, the same way they appreciate the items I bring from home to help make our classroom a more productive and safe place for my students to spend their time.
My Project
A little more than halfway through the school year, and we are running low on basic school supplies. Each day I hand out numerous pens and pencils for students to use, not only in my classroom, but all through their academic day. My students have reached the point in our classroom where we are currently talking about the parts of a cell. My intention is for each student to choose an organelle to research, and create a presentation for the class on that organelle.
These supplies will help us present what we have learned, not only to the rest of our class, but to the entire school.
I look forward to being able to show off how amazing these kids are!
