My students are a wonderful, diverse group of excited minds that are eager and ready to learn. This year a new kindergarten class was added to my Title I school and I was lucky enough to join a caring staff whose goal is to help every child that walks through our doors. I have students that represent several cultures; 11 of my 22 students speak a different language at home which include Spanish, Japanese and Arabic. These boys and girls are all unique but have a common goal: to learn to read.
My Project
Reading is a fundamental step for all learning to occur. By providing leveled books for an independent reading classroom library, you are helping my students become lifetime learners. Students feel success when they can read text independently and this fuels them with motivation to want to read more. Not only will I be able to use these books with my current class, but also with all my kindergarten classes to come. I do not know what the future holds for my students. There may be doctors, authors, scientists, activists, officers, or artists sitting in my class. Help them read, will you please?
