It's almost that time of year again! Hope that you're having a great vacation. Although summer is not over YET, it's time to start planning. This year I will have the pleasure of following my students up to the sixth grade.
Since I am very familiar with my students, I took the time to ponder what will make the school year more effective. Besides textbooks, the students need supplies to help them apply what they are learning. Every year, teachers give their students a list of supplies that they will need for the school year. Most of the time, the students are unable to obtain the materials for various reasons.
One main reason why a student is unable to purchase school supplies is lack of money. The area in which I teach has a 98% poverty rate. Many students are being raised in a single parent household that have more than 5 siblings. Therefore, it is hard for parents to purchase all the necessary supplies.
I am writing this proposal on the behalf of the children at MS 201. I am respectfully requesting a list of supplies. This supply list will be used for ALL of my students. It contains ALL the school supplies they will need for the entire year. I currently have 120 students on my roster. You would be amazed how many of these students are unable to purchase school supplies. On behalf of the students and parents at MS 201, I would like to say thank you for your generosity.
