As a teacher in a high poverty, low income school district, I see that majority of my students face many challenges that stunt their abilities to be successful individuals in our society. Some of these challenges exist before the students leave their homes in the morning.
However, despite these challenges, my students come to school with smiling faces, and are bursting with excitement to learn, everyday.
As their teacher, it is my duty to create a friendly and caring classroom environment that feels safe and inviting for them to enter into each day. My students are caring, clever, and innovative.
My Project
Many of my students wiggle in their chairs and have a hard time sitting still. They begin to lean on their chairs, bounce in their chairs, tap their foot on their desk and some even fall off their chairs. During small group reading instruction, my students are wiggling while trying to read. They disturb others around them, causing other students to lose their focus. With this disruption, I also have to refocus the small group to return to reading.
Having a wobble seat and bouncy band they can wiggle in their seat and it will allow my students to be more engaged in their learning.
These stools and bands are a great solution to allow the students to wiggle safely, and be ready to learn during small and whole group reading and math instruction. The wiggle stools and bands are a great way for my students to be able to move in class without distracting themselves or others.
