We are a small rural school with around two hundred students. Our town is very small with only one stop light and a Dairy Queen. Most of these students will attend all twelve years of school together. We are a highest poverty district and many of our students are from blended families. Many are raised by sisters, aunt, uncles, or grandparents. We have a wonderful group of teachers and students that work together and do let our budget restrictions get in the way.
My Project
We recently started to renovate the band hall. This is all being done through grants and student fundraising. Previously we had some old melamine and shower boards in our band hall that did not erase well. This project would get us a quality dry erase board to use in all band and music classes. This would allow further instruction from the front of the classroom which is helpful with such large classes sizes in the band hall. It would also be useful for giving the class the order of music that we will be playing that day to save time in transition. We really miss having a dry erase board in our band hall.
