Ms. Pamela Kirtman from Davie FL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 2 updated computers and monitors to help them apply to college and for scholarships and financial aid.

The college admissions, scholarship and financial aid processes are complicated. I work one-on-one with students to help them realize their post-secondary dreams. Without updated technology, students will not have access to college and foundation websites.
My students are 11th and 12th graders from throughout Broward County.
Over 50% of them receive free or reduced cost lunch. Due to budget cuts, colleges, universities and technical schools have cut financial aid to students. Bright Futures Scholarship award amounts have been reduced also. Whether students have financial need or not, they all need help with this sometimes confusing process. My students want to find the best possible college match. A big part of finding a good match is also finding free money to help fund their educations and keep them debt free. Our students are open to many different post-secondary options, including college, technical school, military, years of service and apprenticeships. They are great researchers but need current technology to help them learn more about the many opportunities available.
The student computers we have are old and slow. There is no money available to buy new ones. The existing computers do not have the capacity to run the video-based virtual tours and information that are on college websites. The computers do not have DVD players. They crash at the worse possible times, especially while I'm helping students and parents apply for financial aid, Bright Futures, college admissions and scholarships. New computers in Nova's BRACE Office will help me continue to help my students and their parents navigate the complicated and confusing processes that are necessary parts of the college and technical school admissions process.
The student computers in my office are over a decade old.
They can no longer be updated or repaired. The FAFSA (financial aid application) as well as the majority of college and scholarship applications are available ONLY online. Updated technology is essential. Please help.
