Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school library serves 2,000 students. We have kids coming in and out all day and for many of our students the school library is the only place they can get books.
My students are tough inner-city kids.
They have thick shells, but underneath they are kind, inquisitive, and smart. And many of them really like coming to the library and I love the smiles on their faces when they find just the book they were looking for.
My Project
I would like 50 hard plastic bins from Lakeshore Learning to help me get the books back on the shelves. The plastic bins will be placed on each shelf and they will help me get the books back into children's hands faster. I will be able to check the books in and have them ready for a new reader very quickly.
My goal is to make every child a reader.
One way to do that is to have as many books on the shelves and available for students as quickly as possible. The plastic bins will improve turn around time in the library.
