Help The Land of I Can Classroom Reach Their Goals!
My students need children's books for our library, science tools for experiments, and nap mats to rest on.
Do you remember your first time in school? I want to ensure that regardless of the personal and economic setbacks my students face, that they not only remember their first time in school, but they also are more prepared than anyone to continue their education.
My pre-K students thrive in the "Land of I can," which is our classroom theme.
We are the Cardinals from an elementary school located in Oklahoma. All of my students come from low-income homes and our school is in an area surrounded by poverty. They love to learn, and deserve the very best.
Do you remember doing hands on activities in school? Those activities that made you love learning, that sparked that interest in a certain subject area? I want to make sure my kids, who do not have the resources at home, have those hands on activities at school.
When we started the year we had six books and all of them were falling apart. Since then I have been purchasing books whenever I see them on sale, but we still are in serious need of early childhood books. Reading multiple times a day, whether it is during a read aloud or during the library center, students are enhancing their reading comprehension.
We need children's books for our library, science tools for experiments, and nap mats to rest on. I want to give my students fun and engaging science projects such as watching water change colors, or watching a plant grow. I want my kids to be excited about everything we're doing and most times, especially with four-year-olds, this has to be hands on. They will expand their vocabulary, literacy and science skills. Now, they rest on the hard floor, but nap mats can change that.
Please help make a HUGE difference in the education of my students.
New books will allow them opportunities to learn to read and advance their print awareness. Their literacy and vocabulary skills are already so far behind, having books will be an immediate help. New science and art tools will also allow them to continue to explore the world around them, a skill so crucial to early childhood development. Lastly, nap mats will give the child a place to rest their head during the quiet time of day
