Help me give my students Creality Ender 3 Pro 3D printers and supplies so that they can give back to the community that has supported our FIRST robotics team.
This was my first year with FIRST robotics team 3130 and they amazed me at every turn. This team of radical robot builders are smart, capable, dedicated and exude the gracious professionalism that is the hallmark of the FIRST robotics program at every level. I expected to come in and take charge to guide them through the challenge this year. In reality I found that it was all I could do to get out of their way as took me down paths I had never traveled to learn so much this year.
My Project
Since the Covid-19 crisis has canceled our FIRST FRC robotics season we have been looking for a new engineering challenge to keep our team members engaged and learning. To address the critical shortage of personal protective equipment, maker groups around the country have started to print face shields and ear protectors. A couple of our members have pressed their personal 3D printers into service and started printing PPE for the community.
We want to expand on this learning opportunity and help our community by organizing and expanding our production of these face shields.
Our plan is to purchase Ender 3 pro 3D printers and supplies to distribute to our students homes. Other students will process the 3D printer parts and use them to assemble protective face shields for the community.
After the crisis is over the 3d printers will be used to promote STEM at our school and throughout the community.
