The students of our band program may be small in number compared to other band programs (though we are growing!), but they do some pretty amazing things with what they have. They have earned several awards and many 1st Division ratings (which is the highest you can receive) at MSBOA band festivals over the past three years and at both the district and state levels. More importantly, they are constantly working to better themselves, growing as people and as musicians as they pursue excellence at the highest levels.
These students bring a fantastic attitude to class every day.
They demonstrate a tremendous work ethic, a noticeable drive to succeed and are in general, human beings of great character. I couldn't be more proud to be their director!
My Project
It is said that the percussion section of a band provides the color to the music. This is so true! A group of skillful percussionists can truly make the rest of the band shine, making the music more vibrant and engrossing.
Here in the band program, we are endeavoring to bolster our percussion section resources, and one of the needs we have currently is a set of tom tom drums.
A set of four of these can really add great variety and excitement to certain pieces of music, and though we technically do have a few of them in our band room, our current set is extremely old, do not have self-supporting stands (kids usually have to prop them up on a chair to play even one of them), and nearly every one of them has a gaping hole in the drum head due to overuse. We would be extremely grateful if you would help us replace them. Thank you so much!
