Did you have opportunities to play sports as a kid? Were you able to play after school? I did and I have found it frustrating as a teacher that the kids in my school seem to have fewer and fewer opportunities to run and play.
My student-athletes are a dedicated group of young men and women who have joined our basketball teams.
Student-athletes at our school practice after school three days a week, maintain good grades, and are ambassadors for our school. We will begin playing games against other charter schools in our area in January. These kids love basketball. They love to run, play, and learn the game. We have adopted the motto "Success With Honor" this year, and we try to incorporate that in all that we do.
My Project
What we need from you are all of the essentials to have a great basketball program. Tryouts were two weeks ago. An hour before tryouts, I walked over to the sporting good store and bought a few basketballs with money out of my pocket. We need your help in securing our basketball program. We need 6 Spalding basketballs, 28 practice jerseys, an air pump, needles, coaching materials and a whistle. This donation, along with the hard work of the students and coaches, makes our entire program complete. You have an opportunity to sponsor a basketball program for 28 kids for the next three months.
