Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 7th grade English Language Arts in the largest school district in Connecticut. The students of Bridgeport need supplies and resources in order to be engaged, motivated, and challenged to their potential.
My students come from the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
They are 7th graders that are eager to learn and collaborate with their peers. Read is a pre-k- 8 building and most of the students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Read is a diverse school with a dedicated staff.
My Project
I am requesting Scholastic Action and Choices magazine subscriptions for my classroom so students develop a love of reading. It is important to understand and be aware of what is going on in the world.
I am also requesting supplies like dry erase markers, headphones, pencils, post its and a pencil sharpener so that my students can have the basic resources they need in order to be successful readers and writers in Language Arts class. These materials will be used daily in the classroom.
The donations I receive will directly impact my students.
They will have more resources to choose as far as reading materials. Also, the donations will help establish a positive and nurturing classroom environment.
