Help me give my students the supplies required to participate in our band program. Reeds, mouthpieces, and other materials are needed but not supplied by the school.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are eager to explore the possibilities that music has to offer, and if given the right resources, they can learn and perform at extremely high levels. Our students are diverse in their backgrounds and skills, but each and every one of them deserve an opportunity at a quality music education. Our school services over 900 students, and many come from low-income families and receive free or reduced-price lunch. Despite the challenges our students face, they greet each and every day with enthusiasm and optimism.
My Project
All of these reeds, mouthpieces, and other supplies will go directly to our band students so they can create music as an ensemble. These supplies are required in order to play an instrument; however our school does not provide the equipment for students. In order for students to get a real band class experience, they either have to provide these materials themselves or rely on fundraising or other forms of charity. Many of our students come from low-income families, and the costs of these supplies make participating in band class prohibitive. However, with your generous donation, we can ensure that all students have an opportunity to create music no matter their economic background.
