The students whom we teach at our high needs school include students with intellectual disabilities, specific learning disabilities, and autism. The students have unique needs and struggle daily with significant communication and learning needs. They work everyday on their life skills, daily living skills and communication. We work with them on communicating verbally and through communication devices.
A large population of the students who are in our school have challenges such as autism, intellectual impairments, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities.
In our building during the months of August-October and April-June, temperatures can become unbearable for our students. Learning is definitely challenging during these 4-6 months.
A large population of the students whom we teach already have communication and learning difficulties, however with your help they will be able to better focus on their education and less focus on the extreme building temperatures.
My Project
I would love to be able to provide the students with classroom air conditioners. Our classrooms become unbearably hot 6 months during the school year. I would like the students to become more successful in school and in the community. Our eventual goal is to help them become more independent. I would love to be able to purchase 5 air conditioners so that the students can focus on their learning and not on the heat. Thank you so much for considering our classroom.
This project will make a difference by helping the students communicate, become more independent, and focus on their learning.
This project will not only impact the students academically in school, but also throughout their daily living skills.
