This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in a high poverty school on the Northwest side of Milwaukee, WI. My students range in levels from 1st-5th grade. The students in my classroom have severe intellectual disabilities.
I have students with severe physical needs, I have students with vision issues but I mainly have students who need a lot of extra support when working on academics.
My awesome class can range in ability levels from learning to hold a pencil to learning to read at a 2nd grade level.
My Project
Your donation will help students with severe disabilities learn to read, write and study mathematics. We are a small, forgotten group of students who require more printed material due to the fact that we can't use the regular education curriculum. We don't receive books and workbooks like the rest of the students in our school. We have an alternate curriculum, however, most of it is only accessible online or through printed material.
As a low-income school, we don't have the money to purchase new printers or ink cartridges, even for our students with the most severe disabilities.
We are the students who require this type of concentrated instruction within a small group learning environment. Printing materials is the way we learn the best.
Please consider a contribution to our project. Your donation will not be squandered.
