Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are my heroes. My students are battling life threatening illnesses. One has end stage renal failure. All of my students are from low income households. My students are the most inspiring people I've ever met. My students are brave. I work with students in grades K-12 who have serious medical issues such as cancer. All of my students come to school ready to learn. It is a joy and a privilege to work with these students. Each day, they try their best in school while battling cancer or waiting for an organ transplant.
I work with students in grades K-12 who have serious and life-threatening medical conditions.
Some students have life-threatening conditions such as cancer. Other students are on the transplant list waiting for an organ transplant. A few students have been hit by a car or were in a car accident. Most of the students experience pain on a daily basis.
All of my students are very brave and a pleasure to work with. Each day, they try their best in school while battling cancer or waiting for an organ transplant. In addition to their serious medical problems, all of my students reside in high poverty .
My Project
My students with serious medical issues need a portable printer and ink. Students need to be able to print their work at home and in the hospital. They are receiving life saving medical treatment and do not have access to a printer. Not only are they ill, they also don't have the school supplies that they need.
All of my students are from low income households and they don't have printers at home.
They don't have access to printers when they are attending home school due to serious medical issues. When students have access to a a printer and printing supplies, they become excited to write and learn. The can participate in student centered learning and publish student created projects. They can write stories and share them with their families and friends. They can write newsletters and share them with their community.
Being able to print their writing and projects makes writing exciting!
Publishing and printing their books supports student centered learning and benefits students. Students want to build their writing skills and write more! The parents and families cherish the children's written work. I often laminate the student's projects so they can save them. Printing their stories and school projects helps give joy to seriously ill students. We also create math projects and print them. This helps to better understand mathematical concepts. The students love to integrate technology into their school program. It helps them to build valuable skills for the future.
