Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our school we are only allowed to have photocopies made on a whole grade level. As teachers do not always do the same thing, I rarely am able to get copies made, and feel that this limitation stalls my creativity and students' motivation and experiences. We have no Science or Social Studies textbooks, therefore any assignments or ideas found outside of the classroom are contingent on whether or not I can talk the other teachers into doing my lessons.
The teachers on the third grade level have agreed that if we can obtain a photocopier and start-up supplies, we will put a fund together for upkeep and replacing supplies. This is great because then 98 students from four classes would be able to benefit from each teacher's creativity.
If I had a photocopier, my lesson plan ideas would be limitless. We would have graph paper for math and graphic organizers that improve writing and reading skills. We could photocopy PowerPoint slides to put together group books on countries that we are studying, spelling words could be handed out rather than copying them incorrectly off the chalkboard. In addition, I could spend more time teaching rather than wasting time writing on the board and waiting for students to copy.
A photocopier is exactly what our students need to show off the results of hands-on experience rather than writer's cramp! Thank you in advance for your consideration.
