This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is comprised with students from the inner city, who come from low income households and face many challenges in and out of school. Resources are limited and many students are reading below grade level. Despite the lack of resources, funding, and academic gaps our school faces I am determined to do whatever is necessary to help build life long readers and learners.
Students are eager to improve their reading skills and begin their journey into the wonder and magic of books!
My goal is to help students not only improve their reading skills, but to also fall in love with reading.
My Project
The books I am requesting are those students beginning to read and those lowest leveled readers who need the most support. Its critical to engage students in targeted instruction with the appropriate leveled book that they can feel success and proud of their ability to read. Many students are reluctant and unmotivated to read in school or at home. Those that want to read and become better readers face limited resources in class and often times even little or no books at home.
By donating to my project, students will now have a variety of books at their level to help them master the necessary skill to increase their reading levels during guided reading time.
Students need to practice their reading skills to become better readers. Please donate to bring these much needed books into students hand. They will soon begin discover all the wonder and magic that books bring while instilling the essential importance of reading everyday.
