Help me give my students tools such as math manipulatives and composition books to learn in a virtual environment. While learning remotely, it is important for students to have headphones that drown out noise, focus and record themselves explaining their learning.
This school year will begin virtually. I work at a title one school. I teach a first grade dual language class. I have students learning English and students learning Spanish. These students are learning a language often not taught at home. Since this year will begin virtually, I want to give my students all the tools that will help them learn at home. I am excited to meet all these loving, curious, and energetic students.
My Project
Students usually have tool boxes at school to help them problem solve. The tool boxes consist of counters, double sided counters, base ten blocks, and number lines. I want to make individual boxes for each student to use at home. In a whole group setting, I use dry erase boards to help with adding and subtracting using a tens frame and fact families. Students can use the tens frames and fact families board at home so they can participate virtually in whole group activity and practice on their own.
The students will be more engaged and able to participate in virtual learning when they are able to block out the noise at home and record themselves as they explain their thinking.
The head phones with a microphone will help accomplish this goal.
I often teach, I do, we do, you do. Using a document camera at school helps me model writing, reading, and math for my students. I would use my iPhone or iPad to make a document camera at home but would need a stand to make that possible.
