Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students (Pre-K to Fifth Grade) come from all walks of life, but have one thing in common, they love to learn! In the library, they are able to relax with their favorite books and work in cooperative groups to create fun projects, explore new opportunities and express their ideas freely. My goal is for all 670 students to feel comfortable in the library.
Elementary students are at a critical time in their educational, social and emotional lives, it is our job as educators to make sure they have what they need to succeed.
My Project
My students rotate to different centers during library time once they have finished their lesson work and during checkout. Students have been using legos and building blocks, but there is only so much they are able to build using these materials. These K'Nex sets will add another layer to their creativity center.
K'Nex kits allow students to easily create three dimensional designs to expand past small Lego/block creations.
They will be able to create scenes from our picture books and focus stories along with expanding on our STEAM standards. These K'Nex sets would be a wonderful addition to our library center rotation.
