This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are eager and ready to learn. Our school attracts some of the brightest and talented students in the district, and they are highly motivated for success. Our school is in a high poverty district, and our students know that education, particularly in STEM, is one of the most important keys for their future success outside of school. One of my favorite things about our students is that they all love learning and are on their way to becoming intellectual thinkers.
My Project
Eugenia Cheng brings a great perspective on infinity, which is a helpful concept to understand for many advanced math science and STEM fields. I am asking for funding to purchase the book Beyond Infinity to help students grasp this awesome number.
Calculus is a place where students first encounter infinity, but it comes up in many places and ways throughout life.
This book will help students master and grasp a difficult concept that has puzzled humanity for centuries.
Students will also develop their appreciation of mathematical writing and see a great example of a successful mathematician who is not a stereotypical math professor.
