Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at EHHS have always been willing to go above and beyond to help out a neighbor. They are enthusiastic, impressionable learners who have collectively given over 31,000 hours of their time to their community.
Whether they're promoting a local blood drive, volunteering at town events, or cleaning up the local parks, students are always willing to volunteer.
They reflect on these experiences with a level of energy that is uplifting, humbling, and encouraging for our future as a society.
My Project
Every year on the day before Thanksgiving, our high school hosts Community Awareness Day. The entire days is meant to show students a plethora of ways in which they can give back to their community. It has expanded in recent years to provide 10th, 11th, and 12th graders with real service experiences. Last year, 300 tenth grade students went to neighborhoods surrounding the high school and raked leaves for elderly and handicapped people in the area. In spite of the inclement weather, EHHS students successfully raked eighteen yards. They received glowing reviews for their work ethic and dedication.
To continue this annual tradition we need to restock!
With an increase in students and eagerness to participate, we need more rakes and tarps! Please help us keep this Community program alive and strong. Donations will help current students and the community for years to come.
