I am a special education teacher for 6th grade. My students are 11-12 in age and have a variety of mild to moderate disabilities. Our school community is a diverse community with a range of needs. We as a school are considered a school in economic need (or disadvantaged), which your support would go a long way with. With your generosity, my students would have more opportunities to sit on the best choice of seating for them. Please help our neediest population with learning to the best of their abilities by granting us alternate seating options!
My Project
Help special needs students get the mind-body response that will help reduce anxiety and frustrations during learning and help improve attention to task completion. The materials that you will provide for my students will allow them to learn to not only trust their own abilities, but will also help them in reducing anxiety and frustrations when they occur AND help students improve attention to lessons and learning tasks. By learning a system of exercises that are completed with balls or bean bags, students gain confidence with themselves.
"Bal-A-Vis-X is a series of some 300 exercises, most of which are done with sand-filled bags and/or racquetballs, often while standing on a Bal-A-Vis-X balance board.
Requiring multiple thousands of mid-line crossings in three dimensions, these exercises are steadily rhythmic, with a pronounced auditory foundation, executed at a pace that naturally results from proper physical techniques. Bal-A-Vis-X enables the whole mind-body system to experience the symmetrical flow of a pendulum.
This carefully modulated system of exercises can become increasingly complex OR increasingly simplified/modified for those with severe special needs." (https://www.bal-a-vis-x.com/about.htm)
