Help me give my students S.P.I.R.E. reading program. It is a comprehensive, intensive, and multisensory reading intervention that integrates phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and handwriting.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with meaningful learning experiences.
Our students are special in many ways.
They like to move, love to learn and love lots of positive attention. They are faced with many challenges in their learning at school. Focusing, expressing their thoughts, and understanding language are a few of the challenges our students face each day. They are "fighting" many obstacles, we are working hard as teachers and staff to give them the tools to overcome them. They are growing despite some of their many challenges. Our students are loving, caring, have lots of friends, and want to do well for their teachers. I have the pleasure of teaching across many grade levels with all students who are struggling with their academic and social emotional learning. My students are eager to learn, but perhaps need a different way to learn. I try to make our lessons stress free, but when a child knows they are having difficulty learning sometimes proves to be impossible.
My Project
As a special education resource teacher, my students are mostly tier 4 students who are struggling with reading (K-2). My students require more systematic and intensive reading instruction to help close the gaps that they have in their learning. S.P.I.R.E. is an intensive reading intervention designed to help support struggling and non-readers. S.P.I.R.E. is research-based and is proven to increase the reading skills of students through a multi-sensory approach, explicit instruction, consistency, and mastery of concepts. Many pieces of this valuable program are missing and are inaccessible for my students and me. Please help support our future and their literacy skills by donating these materials! Thank you!!
