Have you ever heard a band play in public? When you hear my students, you will not know that they are children. I teach Band at our urban middle school, and am working alongside my students to continue to develop our ensemble.
The desire that my kids show for learning is nothing short of amazing.
Our community has embraced us as we work on continuing to develop a program that all of our children will be proud of for many years to come. As our program continues to flourish, we find ourselves in need of more equipment to fill out our sound as we perform out in public more and more.
My Project
Woodwind instruments require reeds in order to produce sounds. My students are developing into amazing young musicians, but are often hindered because reeds wear out over time, and many are learning to play with broken reeds because they cannot afford new ones. One box of reeds for a clarinet or saxophone student would allow them to continue developing their musicianship throughout the rest of the school year as they continue to battle against "the squeaks"!
My students love to play their instruments, but more importantly, they enjoy working to learn to play them better.
I am beyond proud of everything my students do to brighten their futures each day, and I want to do everything possible to make sure that they will continue to do so! Thank you for your consideration!
