This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in an inner city school in West Philadelphia with a very diverse population. Most of the students live in the neighborhood, yet some are middle class and others are homeless. Regardless of their home lives, they all come to school every day, eager to learn something new. I am so lucky to work where I do
Every challenge I've given them they've not only met, but they have easily surpassed.
I am so lucky that I get to be their teacher.
My Project
My students are amazing inner city kids. They are always going above and beyond in the classroom ,but sometimes they are struggling in class because they are hungry. Having snacks like Goldfish, crackers and popcorn available will help these students focus on their classwork not on their hunger. This means we will have less behavior issues and we will also have better grades. This is a win win situation for all of us involved with these students. Education is a precious thing and all our kids deserve to be able to learn and be focused. This will reach so many kids and I know it will make a huge impact.
