Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 5th graders are resilient, ambitious children who love coming to school every day. Most of my students live an unpredictable lifestyle with limited resources and they face many challenges in their home life.
Despite their daily challenges they come to school eager to learn.
The students in my school treat our building as a safe zone and a second home. My students are ready to push through challenges and don't accept failure as an option. In addition to having grit my students are the most appreciative kids who admire anything they are given.
My Project
Having snack during the day will tremendously help my students, there are days that my students complain to me that their stomach's hurt because they are so hungry. In order to teach my students I want them first to have the basic needs that they deserve. My students should not be distracted because they are hungry, it affects their grades.
All people deserve the basic need of having food.
I try to buy snacks for them as much as I can but on a teacher salary it starts to add up. Knowing I have some food for those days that they struggle would be amazing!
