My students need a welcoming classroom prepared with essential materials, including scissors, pencils, and storage containers to ensure that learning can take place in an organized space.
My students learn and work together in a very diverse school, with students going home to watch over their siblings, receiving free-and reduced lunches, and some students struggling to come to school with a pencil. Third grade is not an easy year, as my kiddos learn to take on more responsibility and understand who they are as learners, so as a new teacher, I am here to help them smoothly transition into this challenging, but fun year.
The magical part is observing 25 students from extremely different backgrounds coming together to share one common goal- getting an education that they all deserve to successfully serve as our future leaders.
Beyond the curriculum, the staff in my school work so hard to teach our students how to become kind, thoughtful, respectful and caring people when they leave our classrooms. It's not easy as an educator to see so many of my kiddos coming from challenging home lives, and have a tough time trusting adults, let alone their classmates. That being said, my school strives to ensure that our students are learning in a warm, safe place as it truly is their home away from home!
My Project
A classroom wouldn't be a classroom without pencils, a reliable pencil sharpener, glue sticks, and markers, now would it? To those of you willing to fund my project, thank you SO much in advance. It would mean the world to me to be able to prepare my first official classroom with the necessary supplies and materials I need to make my students feel at home and get the education they deserve.
The donations for this project will improve the accessibility my students will have to the everyday supplies they'll need, resulting in maximized learning time and smoother transitions.
With the dividers, my students will be able to focus better on their learning by using them to complete their classwork and tests. The students' distractions will be reduced, thus giving all of my learners and equal opportunity to succeed, as behaviors will be reduced as well. In addition, the teaching easel will make it easier to teach to my small group in both reading and math, so that I can provide my learners with a tool to model my teaching from.
With the help of your donations, my classroom will be more equipped to help my students successfully perform in the classroom as I will have less issues with organizing materials and providing my students with the tools they need to learn.
