Help Spectrum Show Choir Get to the State Competition!
Help me give my students the opportunity to make one of not only their dreams come true, but to make my former Spectrum members dreams come true...the chance to walk away as Grand Champions!
Our Spectrum Show Choir consists of 50 kids ranging in grades of 6th to 8th grade. My show choir kids are a wonderful group of students eager to sing and dance! They have worked countless hours since August to prepare their competition show. They are striving to uphold traditions and to continue the legacy laid down before them. Spectrum Show Choir is currently ranked second in the state in the middle school division. Many of my kids come from low income homes. Many have a difficult time funding the $350 needed for each kid. Although we have done a lot of fundraising, we still need help funding our trips for the competition season.
My Project
Show Choir is a combination of singing and dancing, while adding some form of theatrical aspect to a competition show. Students work tirelessly from the end of their Summer break all the way through May, preparing shows for competition and for enjoyment. It involves pushing yourself and each other towards a common goal. Making sacrifices so that you can eventually see your hard work pay off.
Show Choir allows my kids to have an outlet of expression, and gives them a place where they feel welcomed.
They are able to be who they are and to live out their dreams of performing on stage. We have competed for five years now, and the first year, we left states in last place. Last year (our fourth year), we left with the second place title. The kids have worked with so much passion and discipline, because they want the opportunity to get the award they have been dreaming about...grand champion.
Our show choir is a second family. For some, it is their family. We are completely funded through fundraisers. Please help my students to fulfill their dreams. Even if they go to the competition and they are not able to win Grand Champion, the experience connected with the trip, is one they will remember for the rest of their lives.
