Help Special Education Students Calculate Success!
Help me give my students access to TI-84 graphing calculators. They are absolutely critical tools for their success in both Geometry and Trigonometry, and many families cannot afford to purchase one on their own!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! They travel from all over New York City to attend our school, and are extremely hardworking as well as decent and kind individuals. Because we are a Title 1 school, many of our families fall at or below the poverty line. This means school supplies, test books, calculators, etc are always in demand.
As a mathematics teacher, I know how important it is for our students to have access to the latest technology.
Sadly, some of our students lack the basic resources like pens, paper, and calculators.
We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students. We prepare our students to enter higher education and the world of health care by maintaining challenging academic standards and integrating education into professional settings so that they acquire scientific knowledge, ethics, integrity and compassion.
Students are placed in heterogeneous classes, where they collaborate and learn from each other. The interdisciplinary, thematic curriculum is hands-on, project-based, and provides students with opportunities to learn about and understand how our interdependent global community functions and interacts. Extended class time enables students to actively engage in project based learning activities and assures for more time
My Project
Many students and adults rely on calculators every day for the most basic sums and products. It is not unusual for an adult to pull out a calculator at a restaurant or even at home.
Special Education students are at a particular disadvantage when it comes to mental math, so they rely heavily on calculators to help them with computation.
Our school simply does not have enough calculators to distribute to our students who need them the most. These calculators will be used DAILY in both Geometry and Trigonometry, as well as on state exams and SATs. Providing the students with these calculators is absolutely critical to their success!
