Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 32 wonderful 6th-grade students. Many of them come from very rough backgrounds. Our school is in San Bernardino and is one of the lower performing schools in our district. At our school, 100% of our students receive free lunch, and many stay after school to attend the after-school CAPS program. Most of my students live in the low-income apartments located across the street from our school. They are extremely sweet, kind, and smart individuals, but need a lot of love and support to help them through the things they are facing on a daily basis.
My Project
As we approach the middle of the year, many of our supplies have been depleted.
We are in need of glue sticks, markers, colored pencils, paper, and a few other supplies that we use on a daily basis.
There are many fun and creative projects that I would like to do with the students, but we are unable to do them without some of these things. I have tried to supplement the best I can, but with 32 students the cost quickly adds up.
