Mrs. Grimsley from Xenia OH is requesting materials related to food, clothing & hygiene through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need towels, washcloths, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste so they can take showers and brush their teeth at school.

I am the school guidance counselor for a kindergarten through fifth grade elementary school. My students come from various backgrounds and cultures. Most of my students come from low economic situations and all of the students at my school receive free breakfast and free lunch. Some of the students at my school also are experiencing being homeless. This means that they often lack the items needed to meet their basic needs.
I would like the 450 students at my school to be able to have the opportunity to learn, explore, discover, and most importantly thrive in the classroom through the various programs used within the classroom.
I support the teachers at my school by providing monthly character trait lessons in the classroom. I also provide one on one and group counseling to students who need a little extra guidance. The students at my school are awesome and I love working to help meet their physical, social and emotional needs.
Some of the students at my school are experiencing homelessness and lack the items needed to meet their most basic needs. This can mean that the students come to school without showering and without brushing their teeth. This can cause the students to be extremely self conscious and it is extremely unhealthy. Students are more likely to miss school due to illness and to have teeth issues.
I am requesting bath towels, washcloths, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, so our students can take showers and brush their teeth.
This would especially help students who are homeless and don't have a place to shower. We have an awesome shower at our school and we recently received a washer and a dryer, due to the generosity of DonorsChoose.org donors. This means that students have a place to shower and we can wash the towels and washcloths. I am also requesting bleach crystals, so that we can keep the towels and washcloths clean and sanitary.
Thank you for taking the time to read my project idea. I really appreciate it. By donating to this project, you would be helping our students stay healthy and clean.
