Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley.
It is filled with a richly diverse population of students.
In my classroom alone I have students whose parents speak Hmong, Cambodian, English, Spanish and Arabic. My students bring a wealth of culture, experience, and information to my classroom. As a mostly immigrant population, our students are working hard to overcome language and poverty barriers.
I am striving to give my students a classroom that they will feel comfortable to express themselves in. We love to share stories about our families and our culture in class. I am hoping to add to our cultural atmosphere by making the classroom a place that students feel at home and able to do their best work .
My Project
I am asking for a Cricut Maker die cut machine and accessories. A die cut machine will be a valuable tool to use in our class. It will be used to make pre-cut letters and shapes for projects. Some schools provide a die cut machine for teachers to use but our school is not one of them.
Technology like this enables the students to decorate and organize the classroom to their liking, while adding a little extra zing to the room.
Students will be able to design their own t-shirts for our class field trips and spirit days using the iron on heat press. Having a the ability to cut any shape I might need for lessons will be a big help in making my lessons more fun and engaging. We will also be using the machine to enhance our art projects. There are limitless uses for this kind of technology in my classroom.
