My students need a charging station and cases to protect and store the iPads that were donated. The iPads require extra protection, as sometimes my special needs students exhibit challenging behaviors that may damage them.

My Students
I work in a NYC public school with students with moderate to severe disabilities including autism. I have been doing so for the last 10 years. Currently, I have 9 students between the ages of 8 and 11 years of age in a self contained setting.
My students need a lot of supports, and love to explore using hands on sensory activities in order to promote learning and achieve academic success.
I try to incorporate such activities in our daily routine.
My Project
I work with students with special needs, and iPads were generously donated to our class. We need a charging station to help store and charge the iPads in our classroom. It is very important that we have protective cases for the iPads as well. Given the student population, there is a high risk of accidents and behaviors that can damage the expensive items.
When my students are given access to technology they are able to understand concepts that were previously out of their reach.
Suddenly reading, math and science make sense! The auditory and visual feedback is rewarding and promotes focus. This is why is it so important to keep these valuable teaching tools protected. Students will learn responsibility and the appropriate use of devices in addition to their academics.
Thank you for considering our projects. It is very important to us and we greatly appreciate your generosity.
