This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students face housing issues at throughout the school year. Some are doubled up, living with family or friends temporarily, staying in hotels or at shelters, and often losing or leaving behind items that are not essential at the moment, like their school supplies or clothing, when moving. They often come to school feeling unprepared.

They need these school supplies in order to feel confident and ready to learn, but oftentimes replacing them is difficult.

Having access to them at school allows them to maintain focus on their academic tasks and goals.

While I have a small supply of winter jackets, I am not currently able to store or display them in a way that is functional. A movable garment rack would allow students to "shop" for the free clothing with dignity.
