This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live in the inner city of Philadelphia. These students are low-income students who are at risk of dropping out of school every day. My students have to dodge many obstacles every day just to get to school. For most of our students, their school is their safe haven; A place that they actually call home.
The funding in Philadelphia continues to be very limited, moreover, the demand to assist students in achieving and reaching their dreams become more and more difficult to accomplish.
Your assistance with my projects is greatly appreciated, and I know my students would appreciate all that is donated!
My Project
Many students are in great need to relieve stress and anxiety, and get more focused. Stress balls, putty/dough, and anything squishy and squeezy is helpful because they’re soothing, calming, and enjoyable to fidget with. Having stress-relieving toys will help my students de-stress, de-escalate and regain a focus for learning.
Having these stress-relieving toys available for my students will be extremely helpful when counseling them through their own anxiety and worries.
They will learn to use techniques that will help them relax so that they will be able to focus on school.
These stress-relieving toys will absolutely be very beneficial to relieving their everyday stress from their home and school life. When a student comes to me office, there are times when they have a difficulty time relieving the stress from home. Having these gadgets can help with de-escalating and calming a student down. I have one chair in my office, that may students like to sit in because it is calming. having 1 or 2 more chairs will really help.
