Help me give my students a classroom of their own in which to learn English. These supplies will help to build a movable divider that will be used to create a classroom specifically for English learners.
We have a very unique mix of students at our online school. Some are refugees who traveled long and far for the chance to live and study in a safe environment and now that they are here, are making the most of every opportunity. Other students mostly come from single-parent households and are taking advantage of the opportunity to work at their own pace. These students sometimes graduate early and earn college credit while still in high school.
One of the beautiful things that happens is seeing these separate groups of students bond and form friendships.
They learn from each other about their respective cultures and the established students provide guidance to the newcomers of the ways of life in our country.
My Project
Our school is lacking something very important—a classroom! We have a large open space as our computer lab and only a few very small rooms for storage or meetings. This has meant that for classes for our English learners, we have had to cram rather uncomfortably into a tiny room. This also means that our wall space is extremely limited for whiteboards, educational posters or displaying student work.
Our goal is to create a room by building a movable divider.
This will allow ample space to use as a classroom for our English learners, or any other time that we need a separate space for students to work.
