Do you remember a when computers was only for the "geeks"? Well our world has changed and computers are seen everywhere and used in everyday life. Our children must learn how to use the current and constantly changing computers. The touchscreen tablets is the current future of computers.
My class is an energetic class of prekindergarten students.
The class is part of a collaboration between the public school system and a daycare facility. We are a full day program that offers the students and families the advantage of more learning time through play. Many of the students have parents in the military or have both parents working. Several of my students arrive before I start my work day and are there after I leave. Since most children spend their day at school, any form of current technology can be an awesome opportunity for my class.
My Project
We may as well face the facts that technology is our future and is not going anywhere. Lets be honest technology can make our life easier. The new touchscreen tablets are a unique way to combine hands on learning with technology. Prekindergarten need to use their hands to learn. Their brains are not ready to understand abstract thoughts, so using our hands is beneficial. The touchscreen tablets have many educational applications and programs (for example: alphabet, sounds, numerals, colors, etc.) that will give a 4 or 5 year old the chance to learn with their hands. The touchscreen tablets also have an ereader application that will bring a classic storybook to life. And the best part is the student is learning about computer technology. Our children will need to know how to manipulate technology for their future. What better way to learn basic concepts and skills for the future, than with a touchscreen tablet?
Please open of your minds to the future of our children in regards to technology.
The touchscreen tablet is an opportunity for children to combine hands on learning with the computer's future. The chance to use this technology in class may be their only time to be exposed to our society's future in technology. Please help my class "Get in 'Touch' with Technology".
