I teach eighteen wonderful children in the New York City area. Many of these children come from low-income families and do not have the resources to enhance their academic skills.
These children are fun-loving and full of life and they deserve to have the resources they need to help them succeed in school.
We have a great school, but due to budget cuts, it's hard to get the funds for the materials we need in the classroom. You can help make a difference in these children's lives.
My Project
My children need clothing. Many of the children come to school in the same clothes everyday. I thought it would be great to show the kids how much I love them by having the class wear the same shirt. This way they won’t feel like they are being singled out because they don’t have other clothes to wear. Everyone including me will match them. The children will feel confident in their shirts and in turn be able to concentrate on the work better. It’s important the children are warm and comfortable during the day. We will make a celebration of our hard work throughout the year. We will celebrate each other and 100 days of school. Each child would get to keep their shirt and we would make it a monthly activity when we all dress alike.
