Help People. Save the Environment. Recycle Crayola Markers.
My students need writing tools, informational materials, and manipulatives. The environmental books will help in our lessons to recycle and take care of humankind.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my class is filled with movement, inspiring lessons that connect my students to the world and how so much affects them. Our biggest challenge is having access to materials that help them use strategies. A mantra I use is "own your self-to-world connections."
My students are first through third graders.
They have a variety of learning disabilities and I have been able to teach them to embrace their weaknesses and build upon their strengths. I create assignments to incorporate family, community and school. We are the only special education class in the entire school. We are involved with other general education classes but don't have the same things they have. My students arrive to school with a smile on their faces. I make sure to share the same happiness they do by finding strategic ways to expose them to important world connections. I often supply them with materials, equipment, etc . Receiving help from donors, such as you, will show my students that people help people. It will reinforce the message I'm trying to teach them by getting the campus involved to recycle markers to help someone in the world receive gas. I discovered a program that is recycling markers to produce gas. Ex. 308 markers = 1 gal gas
My Project
I plan to incorporate the resource books by using them across the curriculum. One example, teach the students how to draw pictures, with the markers, to match stories to fit their lessons and connections. I plan on assisting students to monitor the collection of the markers by graphing and note taking results with the graph and chart paper. Furthermore, I plan on exposing them to other environmental factors and how everything is crucial to the health of people and the Earth. I also asked for maps, music, puzzles and other forms of interactive resources and plan on using them to teach about continents and relaxation skills. I believe if we take care of the world we must remember to take care of ourselves.
I believe the items I listed in my project will assist my students with developing writing skills, number sense, and environmental awareness.
We plan on doing our best to encourage kids, parents, and family members to want to take care of the environment. Both children and adults use markers so I think it is a great way to encourage them to give back to the environment and a clever way to recycle a product into a fuel resource. 308 markers melted = 1 gal of gas, allows SUV to go 15 miles
