In my fifth grade class, I have constructed a tree with a trunk and branches, but no leaves! Leaves will be added one-by-one as my students complete book reports and reach reading goals throughout the year. But there is one problem: we do not have many books in our classroom library from which to choose.
I am a new fifth grade teacher. Moving from the first to the fifth grade was a big jump for me. Needless to say I do not own and cannot provide the higher level books that will truly benefit my eager readers. I require my students to read for thirty minutes each night. My students are eager to start adding leaves, but our school library is currently unavailable for student and teacher use.
Please help us feed our hungry minds and clothe our barren tree. A class library is badly needed and would be greatly appreciated! My thirty-two fifth graders have been reading the few chapter books we have and many books that are below their reading levels. That\'s not much of a challenge. A working class library will allow them to choose from a variety of topics and at the same time nurture their love of reading.
